Chronic Knee Pain
The simplest of everyday activities—from picking up your grandchildren to walking out to the mailbox—require healthy, fully functioning knees.
But if you have chronic knee pain, every step can feel like an arduous task. At Spine Care Chronic Conditions and Rehab Center in Seneca, SC, our doctors are committed to helping every patient reclaim quality of life by breaking free of chronic pain.
Why Choose our Office for Care?
Chronic pain is notoriously difficult for physicians to treat. Family doctors and orthopedists could prescribe medications, but these can result in undesirable side effects and possibly cause drug dependency. Knee surgeries can have a long, painful recovery, and they aren’t always necessary or successful. Our approach utilizes the latest most effective drug-free, non-surgical, way to treat the underlying cause of your chronic pain and to give you lasting relief and better health.
Common Causes of Chronic Knee Pain
- The human knee is a modified hinge joint. Here, the femur (thigh bone) connects with the tibia (shin bone). The patella, or kneecap, joins to the femur to form the patellofemoral joint. The entire knee is supported by tendons, ligaments, muscles, cartilage, and bursae, which are fluid-filled sacs that support smooth movement. Any one of these structures can experience damage or dysfunction, causing knee pain. Here are some of the most common knee injuries and conditions:
- Damaged cartilage under the kneecap
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Torn ligament
- Dislocated kneecap

Your Treatment Plan
After the Doctor has performed a full evaluation, you’ll discuss your recommended treatment plan. It may include:
Symptom relief: Achieved via lifestyle counseling, activity modifications, cold or heat therapy, and soft tissue healing modalities.
Function restoration: Aimed at freeing restrictions of movement in the joint and surrounding structures. Function may be restored with hands-on chiropractic manipulation techniques and soft tissue mobilization.
Physical rehabilitation: Implemented for the long-term health of the knee joint, a physical rehab program may include strengthening the supportive soft tissues and adjusting movement techniques to prevent recurrent injuries. This can be coupled with Laser Therapy and other modalities that help open the knee joint.
Your comprehensive treatment plan may include remediation of other injuries elsewhere in the body. Sometimes, chronic knee pain is actually referred pain that originates elsewhere. Dysfunction of the pelvis, hip, or lower back may contribute to your symptoms.
